☆Hello My name is Spica☆

IMG_0295.JPG

Hello everyone! This is Spica. I am from the Philippines. I started started learning English when I was two years or younger probably. I grew up in a multilingual community where Filipino, English, a little bit of Spanish and two more local dialects are spoken. I believe my advantage in teaching Japanese learners is that, I know exactly the feeling of how it is to learn a target language. I sympathize to the struggles and challenges that beset among the learners. In the Philippines, the medium of instruction is mostly in English and we started learning at a very young age. Thus, I can share a lot to the kids of Sophie International School.
On the other hand, for my educational background I graduated from he University of the Philippines. It is a premier university of the country and is likened to Tokyo University in terms of its educational standards. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communication in year 2009. Furthermore, I earned some educational units for Master of Education English as a Second Language from 2011-2014. I believe this educational trainings have equipped me to further educate young minds.
Moreover, I used to teach in Central Philippine University on subjects such as Literature, Technical Writing and Speech for college students. I also taught kids in an English school for Koreans, basically on phonetics, pronunciation guide, grammar drills and a lot more. I also have a vast experience on online teaching for Japanese of varied ages. I am also a freelance writer and documenter in the Philippines.
Learning is fun given the best teaching methods and techniques applied. Given my wide experience on the field of teaching, I am positive to affect change in the lives of the learners. I always wanted my learners to learn on their own pace. A teacher should be a guide towards a more meaningful learning. A teacher is like a mother hen guiding its chicks to food and letting its offspring scratch it. Like the mother hen, a teacher leads the way towards learning but it should become a more meaningful when learners relate to it.
Furthermore, I certainly believe learning is a two-way process. I am able to learn from my learners and them from me. Learning is mutual. Thus, it becomes more fun and enjoyable. At Sophie, we are committed to make learning a fun experience while gradually attaining our goals.
